Seafood Product Logistics:
a matchless advantage for Boulogne-sur-Mer

Seafood products imported from around the world all reach Boulogne-sur-Mer by heavy goods vehicles. Products from northern Europe arrive directly (UK, Norway, Denmark, Holland, Poland, Russia, Baltic States). For other arrivals, products particularly from Asia, Africa and South America, they transit via nearby airports (Roissy-CDG, London, Luxemburg, Brussels, etc.), or the Channel and North Sea Ports (Le Havre, Dunkirk, Antwerp, etc.).

After grouping and de-grouping by the companies or at the wharf in its refrigerated platform measuring 11 200 square metres equipped with 112 extra-large loading doors, the 300 000 fresh and deep frozen fish are dispatched to all the regions in France and most European countries, especially Spain and Italy.

The 24  transport companies that operate out of Boulogne, load the products in the morning and they are delivered the next day to all parts of France and neighbouring countries.

An expressway link up the wharf to the A16 and A26 motorways thus reducing still further the dispatching time to eastern and southern Europe, as well as the UK by way of the Channel tunnel.
