Boulogne-sur-Mer, premier fishing port of France and also the 1st European centre for transformation of seafood products. 300 000 tons of fish, molluscs and shellfish are landed and transformed each year. 60 000 tons are landed from local Boulogne-sur-Mer trawlers and 240 000 tons are imported from all over the world, particularly from northern Europe.
There are around 200 companies implanted in Boulogne-sur-Mer that transform, commercialise and distribute seafood products.
These companies, all based in the Capécure quarter, have the advantage of being in a strategic geographical location, that is to say, at the crossroads of the production zones of northern Europe and the consumer markets of the south.
They prepare, transform, commercialise or are just handlers of more than 300 000 tons per year of fresh, frozen, dried, smoked, canned produce or value added products.
